Matthew 11:25-27 - God Reveals Jesus to Whom He Wills

At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes

In our walk with God, it's essential to keep in mind that He is the one who selects those to whom He will unveil the profound mystery of the Gospel. Too often, we witness debates and disputes between self-proclaimed Christians and non-believers regarding God's existence and the Gospel of Christ. However, the Bible unequivocally advises against quarrelling and engaging in contentious debates for those who are called to live godly lives.

2 Timothy 2:24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient,

God's Will and Sovereignty

The individual who fervently argues about God’s existence or attempts to forcefully impose the message of their Gospel (which may not be the true Gospel) on unbelievers has, in essence, failed to understand the sovereignty of God. God is the one who determines when and how to reveal Jesus and the Gospel to those whom He selects. Romans 9:15-16 reinforces this profound truth, stating:

"For He says to Moses, 'I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.' So then, it is not a matter of personal will or effort, but rather a demonstration of God's boundless mercy."

This passage serves as a powerful reminder that we do not possess dominion over the faith and beliefs of others. Even our own faith is a divine gift granted by God according to His will and choice. As Jesus Himself affirmed, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit."

Work Our Your Own Salvation

It is always God’s will be done, not ours. Therefore, we should be humble, without boasting, and never argue with others because we are reconciled to God by grace through faith in Jesus alone. And it is His choice, not ours. Furthermore, we are instructed to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. It is not our place to work out the salvation of others; that is in God's hands.

Philippians 1:6 NKJV  - “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”

Then should we even share the Gospel?

So does this mean that we shouldn't share the Gospel? Of course not; we should indeed. We don’t know whom God intends to save, and that is not our business. We are simply messengers sharing the Good News. However, we shouldn’t impose our message on anyone. If someone is not interested, we should not take it personally or engage in heated arguments, shouting horrid words like "turn or burn." We are not called to be judges, for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So, how can we cast stones?

Who Can Resist God’s Will?

Some may be perplexed by the question of why God condemns certain individuals to hell, especially when we cannot influence His divine will. Romans 9:19–24 responds to this:

“You will say to me then, 'Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?' But indeed, O man, who are you to dispute with God? Will the created thing say to the Creator, 'Why have you made me like this?' Does not the potter possess authority over the clay, shaping one vessel for honor and another for dishonor?”

22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Whether we like it or not. God is God; therefore, He can do as He pleases. He does not require our approval. We like to forget that undeniable fact.

In summary, our ability to understand and believe in Jesus is according to God’s will and not ours. We are called to work out our own salvation while leaving the salvation of others in the capable hands of our Creator. Although we are called to share the Gospel with all men, its mystery is not ours to unveil; it is God's divine prerogative to remove the scales from the eyes of unbelievers. As we navigate the intricacies of faith and belief, let us remember that God's will, not ours, ultimately prevails.
