Revelation 21:3-4 – God Will Wipe Away Every Tear From Their Eyes

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

Revelation 21:3–4 paints a beautiful picture of the remarkable promise of eternal life bestowed upon us through the selfless sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Let's delve into these verses that offer us a glimpse into the age to come -  an eternity that is far beyond our human comprehension.

God Dwelling Among Us

In the age to come, we are assured that God will be with us and visible to us, a privilege we have been deprived of because of our existence in our corruptible flesh. As it is written, "No man shall see Me, and live." However, in that age, we will inhabit our glorified bodies, living out an eternal existence where our Creator dwells among His creation.

1 Corinthians 15:49 NKJV — And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.

There Will Be No More Pain and Suffering

Imagine a world untouched or tainted by crime, poverty, death, and corruption. It's a realm where the darkness that once shrouded our lives is banished forever because God Himself illuminates every corner. In this world, harsh winter sessions, droughts and afflictions cease to exist. We will experience the fullness of the perfect creation God originally intended before sin and death entered through Adam and Eve's disobedience. This is because the former thing will pass away, and we will walk in newness of life. Only life will prevail in eternity.

The Shortness of the Present Age

While we endure suffering in this present age, it's crucial to remember it is short and temporary in comparison to eternity. In holding on to the hope of God's incredible eternal plan, we find the strength to persevere. It is this hope that serves as an anchor for our souls as we patiently endure. James 1:12 affirms this glorious promise of eternal life:

James 1:12 NKJV — Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

Gratitude for Jesus' Sacrifice

As we contemplate these verses, let's take a moment to offer heartfelt gratitude to God for the precious gift of Jesus. It is through His life, death, and resurrection that this promise becomes a reality because He reconciled us with God.

In conclusion, Revelation 21:3-4 invites us to embrace the magnificent promise of eternal life. It encourages us to envision a new world where we will be in God's presence. A world devoid of suffering and darkness. As we express gratitude for the selfless sacrifice of Jesus, we are reminded that this present age is but a brief chapter in the eternal story that God is writing for those who believe in Him.
